Week 1: Video of the Weekend

by Mister Promo | January 8, 2016

And the Video of the Weekend goes to...

"Irresistible"
by Fall Out Boy
feat. Demi Lovato

MPsays, "When I pressed and saw Demi working in a factory on an assembly line watching as her trainer or manager show her the wrapped dolls and what to do with them, her facial reaction was in total disgust when she caught a glimpse at the product. It was those funky N'sync dolls, I immediately took it as a hit against N'sync." The video followed the same storyline as the video for "Its Gonna Be Me". I thought they were going for the saying, "out with the old, in with the new."

Until Rock-It politely explained that he believes it the opposite. He believes that the video is expressing how society is perceiving Fallout Boy as a pop boy band instead of a "Rock Out!" group.

After hearing that it kind of made sense. Anyway, press play and view for yourself.

Whats Next for Amanda Kaletsky? (@AmandaKaletsky)

by Mister Promo | January 6, 2016

Amanda Kaletsky
"Amanda Kaletsky has the voice of a pop star,
but the soul of a singer/songwriter. Her infectious
[music] finds a middle ground between New York's
homey downtown clubs and the polish of Top 40 radio."
- Relix Magazine

Stemming from Bethany, CT her song “Everything Lies” off of her second EP and “Between You & Me” was featured on season 3 of MTV’s “The Hills.” Along with her first EP, “Wait”, Amanda has sold over 2,000 copies and is in radio rotation from the Northeast to Hawaii.
At the age of 13, she broadened her focus by learning guitar and piano, and began developing her vocal skills with the nationally recognized Elm City Girls Choir.
Amanda is currently working on a third, full-length release with producer Ritchie Rubini, while continuing to perform at a variety of venues in the Northeast.

MPsays,
I believe she has what it takes
to be great. Say, you believe?

USA TODAY: "@Adele's '25': Maturity Beyond Her Years." #MPsays "Seriously?"

by Mister Promo | November 18, 2015

Courtesy of NY Times

Maturity beyond her years? What exactly does that mean? Music wise or peronal life? Because if you are referring to her personal life then I totally agree. She is very wise for her age. However, if you are referring to her music career, then I beg the differ.

When Adele first stepped on the scene with her debut album titled, '19'. It may have taken us by storm. Her sound was definitely not new, she was just different.

Then came '21', which was a revampt '19'. Now we have to deal with '25'? Okay, so "Hello" is at no. 1, big whoop. Is that all we are going to receive from Adele's '25'? If that is the case then her maturity is going to become elderly real quick.

There are actually comment debates on Facebook between people comparing Adele to Janet Jackson. That's obsurd. Check Janet's stats by clicking the link in her full name seen two sentences ago. Adele has a very long way to go.

Why is this even a discussion? They're not even in the same category. Besides, Adele doesn't believe '25' will be a success. Judging from the article in the music section of USA Today delievered today, she isn't being modest. Instead, she is being honest. So, if she cannot see her own success in this coming album, then '25' will not be. Billboard, save the no. 1 spots for artist who are more worthy of success and who are aware of it!! Apparently Adele is running out of youthful ages and meaningful topics to describe her albums. Looks like her flame is burning low.

Honestly, would you be interested in purchasing an album titled, '47' or '64'? I wouldn't.

Now for the real question. It has been seven years. What are your thoughts of Missy Elliott and this WTF (Where They From) video? Do you think this video was not good? Did you enjoy it? Are you happy that she is back or do you think that she should have not returned?

Adele's 'Hello' Tops U.K. Singles Chart, Third Week Standing.

Written by Mister Promo | November 10, 2015

Courtesy of Serving Cinema

Adele with her immediate smash hit, 'Hello' has reached week three at No. 1 on the U.K. singles chart. No. 2 Justin Bieber's 'Sorry' , No. 3 Sam Smith's 'Writing's On The Wall ', No. 4 The Weeknd's 'The Hills ' and No. 5 Drake's 'Hotline Bling.'

Hello?! It's Adele.

After a three year hiatus, while at home becoming a mom, Adele would return to release 'Hello' on October 23, 2015. This track will be featured on her junior album titled '25'.

'Hello' was written by Adele and Greg Kurstin and produced by Greg alone. He also performed the bass, guitar, piano/keyboards while Adele were on the drums.
Greg is otherwise best known for, co-writing on 'Shine ' by Years & Years, co-writing and producing 'Come and Get It ' by John Newman and producing 'Famous ' by Charli XCX. He has also produced and co-wrote a great amount of songs on album, Kelly Clarkson's 'Piece By Piece '. Judging from this, we'd say that Greg is well established.

Prior to mommy-hood, you would recall Adele to the vocals on hit songs such as 'Rolling In The Deep', 'Rumor Has It', and 'Set Fire To The Rain' all featured on the album '21 ' (2011). 'Make You Feel My Love', 'Crazy For You', and the world renown 'Chasing Pavements' all featured on her debut album '19 ' (2008).

Although all of the songs listed above are just great in their own way, 'Hello' is doing something, right now, that's just indescribable. It's simply amazing.

Single sales figures have reached an estimate of 450,000 in the first two days. While in its third week it has accrued another 635,000 more in single sales. This song seems to be doing extremely well. We believe the public is more than prepared to hear what will make up the rest of the album '25'. Well, as it would serve, we only have ten days to wait. Friday, November 20 is the album release.

We are ready. Are you?

Celebrating the Celebrity Life of Hedy Lamarr.

written by Mister Promo | November 9, 2015

Photo Courtesy of Karina Longworth's Blog

Hedy Lamarr
Born Hedwig Eva Kiesler on November 9, 1914 in Vienna, Austria. She became a student of theater director Max Reinhardt in Berlin and began her career in 1930 in Czech and German films. At 19 years old, she would feature in a Czech production Ecstasy (Ektese {1933}). This very film would become an international sensation by her nude appearance in simulating an orgasm. Quite fortunately Hollywood caught wind of this and wanted in. She found interest and signed with MGM. This is when "Hedy Lamar" was created to spark more pizazz behind the actress, as her American film career was born.

Hedy Lamarr would sail on to conquer roles in films such as Algiers (1938) as Gaby, Lady of the Tropics (1939), White Cargo (1942) as Tondelayo. Then sadly post WWII her career in films began to tank so MGM decided not to renew her contract. It would take seven years until the public would experience her talents on screen pictures again. At 35 years old, on December 21, 1949 NYC would capture Hedy Lamarr in the premiere of (my personal favorite) the both epic and classic, Cecile B. DeMilles' "Samson and Delilah" as Delilah (of course) and alongside Victor Mature cast as Samson. This became her best known for performance and Paramount Pictures' most profitable movie filmed. It brought in $12 million in rental from theatres.

Hedy Lamarr lead on to star in a handful of other pictures, including The Female Animal (1958), before retiring and living out the rest of her years in Orlando, FL. She would leave our world on January 19, 2000. She may be out of physical sight but she will never be out of mental mind.

Happy Birthday, Hedy Lamarr! ! ! !

Did You Know, Elle King was born...

by Mister Promo | November 4, 2015

Elle King

She was born, Tanner Elle Schneider. Yes, her father is actor and comedian, Robert Schneider. Her mother is a former model named London King, which is where the last name King derived from in her stage name. She knew full well that if she were to present herself as Tanner Schneider or even Elle Schneider that she would, by default, end up riding the coattail of her father. Instead, she changed her name to read Elle King. This way she could travel her own path and create her own resources connections along the way.

She grew up traveling back and forth between Ohio and L.A. However, she currently resides in Brooklyn, NYC, and also records her music there. For the time being, you can experience a live perforance of Elle King in Brooklyn and Harlem. Those locatons will grow and vary soon enough.

I say, it was a brilliant move to decide the name change to Elle King. Keep up the great work.
See you at the top.

Life Without Blinders

by Mister Promo | April 15, 2015

LIFE WITHOUT BLINDERS

Stop living life with blinders on. Because once you take them off
you will realize just how much of this life you have actually missed.

Life blows! You live... Then you die. Is that too harsh?
Well stop dying and start living. Is that more soothing?

Stop waiting to live life later. Live life NOW! Too many of us
create so many excuses as to why we can't go places.

"It's cause I'm broke."
Well, save money.
~~~~~
"I have a job."
So, take a vacation.
"I have a child."
Take your child with you.
~~~~~
"Certain places aren't safe to travel to."
And it's safe to stay home?!

Stop making excuses! Make a goal to leave your nest. Leave
your comfort zone. Make a plan to travel. See the world
outside of your wired fence. Do it young. If you're 18, take
a bus to another state. If you're 21, hop a train cross country.
If you're 24, book a flight to a different continent.
Go somewhere! Create an experience.

Just remember... It starts with you.

Thank you!!

Words From TPS

by Mister Promo | April 6, 2015

Waking up can mean more to one person than it does for another.

It's morning and your eyes open. You see light. It's bright. A new day has begun. New goals are created. Yesterday is gone and tomorrow is near.
What do you with this time? What do you do with the time you have right now? Is it a hard question? Some of us find these questions difficult to answer right away. What are your thoughts?
For me, it's easy. For others, it's not.
The one thing I would like most right now is peace of mind and serenity. I would like to have the ability to live this life stress-free. Is it possible? Absolutely. Can I enact this way right now? Probably not. Will I try like hell to make it happen for me? What do you think?
I need you, the reader, to think about these words and consider your options.

Thank you!
