Born Hedwig Eva Kiesler on November 9, 1914 in Vienna, Austria. She became a student of theater director Max Reinhardt in Berlin and began her career in 1930 in Czech and German films. At 19 years old, she would feature in a Czech production Ecstasy (Ektese {1933}). This very film would become an international sensation by her nude appearance in simulating an orgasm. Quite fortunately Hollywood caught wind of this and wanted in. She found interest and signed with MGM. This is when "Hedy Lamar" was created to spark more pizazz behind the actress, as her American film career was born. 

Best Movie Classics Ever Made

Hedy Lamarr would sail on to conquer roles in films such as Algiers (1938) as Gaby, Lady of the Tropics (1939), White Cargo (1942) as Tondelayo. Then sadly post WWII her career in films began to tank so MGM decided not to renew her contract. It would take seven years until the public would experience her talents on screen pictures again. At 35 years old, on December 21, 1949 NYC would capture Hedy Lamarr in the premiere of (my personal favorite) the both epic and classic, Cecile B. DeMilles' "Samson and Delilah" as Delilah (of course) and alongside Victor Mature cast as Samson. This became her best known for performance and Paramount Pictures' most profitable movie filmed. It brought in $12 million in rental from theatres.

Hedy Lamarr lead on to star in a handful of other pictures, including The Female Animal (1958), before retiring and living out the rest of her years in Orlando, FL. She would leave our world on January 19, 2000. She may be out of physical sight but she will never be out of mental mind.

Music Legends:Bob Marley 70 Years

The Legendary Robert Nesta Marley was born Today February 1945 in Nine Mile, Saint Ann, Jamaica and is one of the most influential musicians of all time.  I can guarantee if you are human, you have heard of Mr. Marley or one of his songs.  Mr. Marley has brought Reggae music to the forefront and you can say he IS Reggae. Being Jamaican myself, I grew up with enjoyed Bob Marley's music.  The Jamaican people are proud of Bob Marley and I am no exception. 

Mr. Marley found The Wailers in 1962 (February) which he recorded with until the disbandment in 1974.  He continued his solo career which he released the album Exodus in 1977.  His international breakthrough songs from the Natty Dread album were "No woman, No cry" and "Rastaman Vibration" reaching the Top 50 on the Billboard Soul Charts.

True Facts: Bob Marley name was originally Nesta Robert Marley, but a Jamaican passport official reversed his name.

Mr. Marley Released many albums before he died on May 11th, 1981 of malignant melanoma.  He was survived by his wife Rita Marley and children: Sharon, Cedella, David "Ziggy", Stephen, Robert "Robbie", Rohan, Karen, Stephanie, Julian, Ky-Mani, and Damian. 
True Facts: Bob Marley and the Wailers were fired from the Sly and the Family Stone show because they were more popular than the acts they opened for.


Today, many are influenced by the legacy of Bob Marley and the Legalization of Marijuana use Mr. Marley as the Poster Child for the movement.  The Marley family has created a business of legal marijuana in Canada and is hoping to soon bring it to America.  Bob Marley merchandise is one of the best selling worldwide.

Rosa Parks was born Rosa Louise McCauley in Tuskegee, Alabama to James McCauley, a carpenter, and Leona McCauley, a teacher. At the age of two she moved to her grandparents' farm in Pine Level, Alabama with her mother and younger brother, Sylvester. At the age of 11 she enrolled in the Montgomery Industrial School for Girls, a private school founded by liberal-minded women from the northern United States. The school's philosophy of self-worth was consistent with Leona McCauley's advice to "take advantage of the opportunities, no matter how few they were."

Opportunities were few indeed. "Back then," Mrs. Parks recalled in an interview, "we didn't have any civil rights. It was just a matter of survival, of existing from one day to the next. I remember going to sleep as a girl hearing the Klan ride at night and hearing a lynching and being afraid the house would burn down." In the same interview, she cited her lifelong acquaintance with fear as the reason for her relative fearlessness in deciding to appeal her conviction during the bus boycott. "I didn't have any special fear," she said.

"It was more of a relief to know that I wasn't alone."

After attending Alabama State Teachers College, the young Rosa settled in Montgomery, with her husband, Raymond Parks. The couple joined the local chapter of the NAACP and worked quietly for many years to improve the lot of African-Americans in the segregated south.

A DAY IN THE LIFE

Rosa Parks was born on February 4, 1913 in Tuskegee, Alabama, USA as Rosa Louise McCauley. She died on October 24, 2005 in Detroit, Michigan, USA.

She was 92 years old.During her life, she married a barber Raymond Parks in 1932. He was a member of the NAACP.Parks became known as "the first lady of civil rights" when she was arrested for refusing to give up her seat on a bus in 1955. This act instigated the legendary Montgomery Bus Boycott, which helped end racial-segregation in public transit across the country.

PRIOR TO FAMEMontgomery Industrial School, where she attended, was burned down twice by racist arsonists.

USEFUL FACTSThere are two Rosa Parks days in her honor:Her birthday, February 4th,and the day of her arrest, December 1st.If she were still with us she would be 102 years old today.
