René Angélil
Canadian singer and manager

Born in Montreal, Québec, Canada and
studied at College André-Grasset (post secondary school).
In the 60s he was a pop singer of a pop rock band,
"Les Baronets". This group consisted of Angélil, Pierre
Labelle and Jean Beaulne; two childhood friends. Post the
splitting up of the group, Angélil joined with best friend,
Guy Cloutier to become managers for artist. The two
managed Québec entertainers René Simard and
Ginette Reno. In 1981, Angélil, would fly solo to manage
artist on his own.
In late 1980, he would meet a preteen; Celine Dion.
He fell in awe of her voice after hearing a demo tape of
hers, which was sent to him from Dion and her parents.
He would then, become her manager and
developmental coach. She became and instant hit in
Canada. Once she became an adult, Celine and René
would grow to become romantically involved.
In 1994 the two would marry, in 2001 Dion would
bear their first child, in 2010 she would then bear twins.
In 1998, Angélil was diagnosed with throat cancer and
defeated it just one year later, only for the cancer to
return and defeat him.

He is remembered by (wife) Celine Dion, (son)
René-Charles, (son) Eddy and (son) Nelson.
René Angélil will surely be missed.
